That Time Miss M and I Went to Melbourne

If you had 24 hours in Melbourne, with a three year old, how would you spend them? I asked my Aussie Parenting blogger friends and here were a few suggestions...(of course with Melbourne your plans are always weather dependent).

Miss M and I ventured off on a girls weekend to visit some friends in Melbourne. She's been once before (read about it here - oh my how things have changed), but was too young to remember. From chatting to friends, 3 seems to be the turning point when children become somewhat easier to travel with. So here's just a quick recap of how we spent our 24 hours!

Playground at Adelaide Airport while Mum enjoys her hazelnut latte - the trip is off to a good start!

So excited!

Busy bag for the plane - and the Tiger Air kids snack pack was great!

First stop - Queens Park Moonee Ponds. The sun was shining! Great playground.
(I also found this review over at Mamma Knows West)

Great coffee + smashed avo for lunch from the Curators Collective Cafe

Discovering rainbows at our next stop the Melbourne Museum

So many animals!

Building towers and measuring height in the temporary kids play area.

We enjoyed dinner at our friends local pub the Royston Hotel - what a warm, cosy and friendly pub it was. They didn't have a specific kids menu, but the staff were helpful in giving Miss M a few meal choices and some paper to draw on. Her meal came out super quick (and the waitress overheard me telling Miss M we could ask if they has ice cream - which they did). I'm pleased to report she lasted without a device until well after dessert. Oh and I had the pork belly and it was amazeballs!

--------

Day two we visited the Abbotsford Convent for brunch (corn fritters + avo salad = YUMMO) and a stroll around the markets. Thanks to this lovely stall holder who let Miss M play colour sorting with the pretty hand made clay beads. How inviting!

There was so much cool street art everywhere I looked as we drove around Melbourne. But I didn't really get the chance to take many photos. We spotted this one on the way to the airport, so my friend pulled over and I tried to get a photo of Miss M rockin' that wall (inspired by my favourite instagrammer Say Hello Jo), but she would not cooperate!

No dramas to report on the flight home, and but the last walk from the gates to pick up the car seat at baggage claim, and then to the car was all a bit much for this tired little girl. She was glad to be home after a very busy weekend!

Have you got any exciting travel plans coming up? We're going on some small SA holidays to Goolwa and Carrickalinga in the coming months, and hopefully something a bit bigger next year!

Happy Tuesday!
Lauren xx
